Marla Klasing earned her degree in Interior Design from the Colorado Institute of Art in Denver, Colorado. Marla has over 27 years of experience in both residential and commercial design. Marla’s career began by moving to Phoenix, Arizona. She gained fundamental experience while employed at a number of architectural firms; including drafting and design work, space planning, writing specifications and referring to building codes on projects such as the Best Western Hotel Headquarters, a Jewish Synagogue, Nationwide Vision Center, many church and residential projects, and tenant improvement in high rise buildings for many doctors offices.

After spending five years in Phoenix, she returned to Colorado Springs, working for a prominent local designer on various projects. A few include Qual-Med Insurance Corporate Headquarters, Parkview Medical Center, several Colorado College projects, a $30 million dollar Golf Country Club in Georgetown, Texas, and several very large custom residential projects in several major cities in Colorado, including the Beaver Creek Ski Resort area. Marla also owned her own design firm for several years; and worked as either a Design Consultant or Project Manager at several new home design centers for predominant builders in Colorado Springs; and she has worked on several model homes. She also gained experience in the industry by selling new homes for two prestigious new homebuilders in Colorado Springs.

Marla, her husband, Tom, and her two children, Alexis and Brandon moved to Florida early in 2005, where she joined a custom builder that built multi-million dollar homes. She worked in the Orlando Design Center as a lead designer, providing services such as interior finish selections, space planning, furniture, accessories, wall coverings, soft window treatments, privacy treatments, faux paints, and lighting! After enjoying the sunshine and beaches for a year, they moved back to Colorado Springs.

In recent years, Marla worked at another national designer showroom, where she worked with several local predominant builders, helping homebuyers to design their new homes. She has built her career in helping others to discover their own individual tastes and putting that into their design! Just recently, she was awarded the 2010 Parade of Homes Industry Award of Excellence for Best Interior Design for a local builder, for both the Judges and People’s Choice Awards!

Marla has extensive product knowledge and stays current with product and color trends such as window treatments, custom draperies, furniture, and lighting; materials such as carpet, tile, fabrics, wallpaper, solid surface countertops, cabinets, plumbing, and electrical. She is currently a member of ASID, and is a member of the Colorado Springs Home Builders Association (CSHBA). With her Design Degree, years of experience and knowledge of interior design; these will all reflect in the design of your new space – either commercial or residential! Marla appreciates and loves the fact that each space and individual are unique, and is excited to be involved in working with you on personalizing your interior space!
